Scam is what most internet geek refer to as a fraudulent scheme performed by a dishonest individual, group, or company in an attempt obtain money or something else of value..

One of the problem facing Nigeria’s business world is the ever growing persistence of people who perform scam activities.

Scammers as they are fondly called, operate every where, either online or offline. A famous principal Researcher at Microsoft , Cormac Herley says in one of his article titled “Nigerians Try To Stop Nigerian Internet Scammers” that Nigerian Scam‘ is now one of the suggested auto-completes in a Google search for Nigeria. This indicates the high occurence of the fradulent activity and people’s unending desire to avoid being scammed.

Dating site, Forum sites and large marketplaces in Nigeria give room for scammers, because they confuse people with amazingly cheap things.

Often times, people who have been scammed in one way or the other discourage other from trading in such business platform based on their experience

There is a general notion that all Nigerian free online classifieds Ads website are scam full. JiJi.ng, is unfortunately, not an exception.

Some people try to use JiJi with their selfish illegal purposes just because it serves as an arena that provides buyers and sellers the avenue to meet and exchange goods and services.

Since inception, there have been controversies whether or not one can be scammed JiJi.

Just last week I received a mail from of my readers asking How true or scam free is jiji.ng.

However, The management of Jiji has declared its zero tolerance for scammers on it’s website.

In a press release available at our disposal, Jiji clearly addressed the issue of scam and how it solved the problem.

Read Details Below…
jiji against scam

What we do with scammers?

Jiji.ng wants their users be safe. And, if it detects fraudsters on the site, they will be removed forever.

Our uniqueness is in our method of fighting scammers. We always try to ensure that only honest, real people are buying and selling on our site, and we help them to do this more comfortably. So we decided to show you how our “fighting” works from a technical point of view, and “acquaint” you with most of the known internet scammers in Nigeria. You should know them by sight and beware.

In addition, we hope scammers will understand that their conduct is unacceptable and stop their nefarious activities.

How do we find serious fraud on JiJi?

Every Jiji user can complain about suspicious, scam ads. You should just push the button “Something wrong?” and then choose the reason for your suspicion (for example, it is illegal; seller asked for prepayment; it is spam).

jiji image 1

JiJi.ng has an important step of blocking ads – user’s verification. Only real people, who have already been registered on the site and approved their e-mail, may apply for the blocking advertisement.
If user gets 2 requests for ban – he automatically will be blocked by system JiJi.ng.
Remember, there are two types of complaining on users – serious (marked with red color) and not serious (marked with yellow color). If one persons picks up five not serious complaints – he or she will be also blocked.

jiji image 2

Why don’t we ban a user after the first complaint?

A market place is a place where all people are competitors. So, we don’t necessarily trust the first request for a block. Some people want to get rid of competitors on JiJi by such methods – just pushing the red button once.

That’s why JiJi has a serious approach and bans only real scammers. Its special smart algorithm checks the veracity of complaints and if the complaint doesn’t pass on certain criteria, the system ceases to be taken into account and does not react.

Do you have other ways of detecting fraud?

Definitely, yes! JiJi’s team of professionals every day monitors news on different sites, forums and reviews about frauds in Nigeria.

jiji image 3

For example, when we found this review on Linda’s blog about scammer OLUKIA TOSIN on JiJi, we were outraged. He was immediately banned! ONUKA TOSIN is no longer a user on JiJi.ng.
Here is one example of his ads. Be careful with anything similar!

Similar reviews about fraud on JiJi.ng were also encountered on other sites and blogs. And we do with other scammers the same – block forever!
jiji image 5
We want to thank everybody who is not indifferent to this problem, and helps us to detect scammers on JiJi.ng online marketplace! We want you continue to adhere this philosophy.

One blocked fraud equals thousands of people who save their money.

Take care of yourself and other honest Nigerian people. If you have encountered a fraud, please inform JiJi’s administration, or submit a request to ban the site’s user.

All scammers will be excluded from JiJi! We instantly react to any information about them!

And remember:

Happy Birthday .COM! Celebrating 30 Years of Internet History

Thirty years ago, the .com Internet domain was born. In case you’re not familiar, the companies and organizations that hand out Internet addresses use top-level domains like .com to organize the addresses. While it seems difficult to remember a time when .COM didn’t exist, the exponential growth of the industry has been relatively recent. In 1985, only six domains were registered. That number grew to 223 in 1990 and 9,005 in 1995, but exploded to over 20 million in 2000. In early 2015, more than 116 million domains were registered.
On March 15, 1985, the first .COM was registered to symbolics.com. This turning point marked the beginning of an industry that revolutionized business and entertainment on an international level. Readily available information at our fingertips has dramatically impacted daily life. Today, nearly three billion users access .COM domains each day. From personal websites and dating sites to online shopping, social media, and news sites, the .COM invention sparked a variety of other domains, such as .EDU, .GOV, .NET and .ORG.

Happy Birthday .COM! Celebrating 30 Years of Internet History

With more than 3 trillion users accessing sites each day, the .COM domain created a platform for some of the world’s most influential people and companies to showcase and promote their brands. Take a look at these stats of .COM users.
Geekzone reports that , From Amazon.com, which registered its domain name in 1994, and Google, which registered Google.com as a domain name in 1997, to small and mid-sized businesses more recently registered, such as Enduracenter.com, NaturallyCoolKids.com, or PantryFullofRecipes.com, which was registered in 2015, .COM is the global online standard for doing business. .COM addresses are your best choice for making your online identity recognizable, easily found and trusted on the global Internet.

“.COM is more than just an address. It’s a globally recognized and respected brand itself that nearly every major global brand, including 100 percent of the Fortune 500, has entrusted with their online presence,” said Jim Bidzos, executive chairman, president and chief executive officer at Verisign. “.COM turning 30 represents a shared milestone for us all and a celebration worth commemorating.”

While Internet growth and adoption has been primarily concentrated in North America for the last 30 years, today, Internet users in North America account for 19 percent of the total number of Internet users globally. As global Internet adoption and growth is accelerating outside of North America, .COM’s global brand appeal, instant recognizability and rapid growth in overseas markets illustrates .COM’s growth in parallel with Internet adoption.
